Behavior Attribution Dispositional Cues Theory Context Similar Tendency

Text
Attribution Theory - tendency for individuals to infer causes of other's behavior

Dispositional attributions - personal context; who you are
situational attributions - social context; who you are around at the time

Cues:

1) Consistency cues - consistent behavior over time; regular behavior
2) Consensus cues - matches socially acceptable behavior; every 10 years(hint)
3) distinctiveness cues - similar behavior in similar situations
4) Correspondent Interference Theory - we explain behavior by dispositional attribution when it helps or hurts us

Fundamental Attribution error - biased towards dispositional attributions
Attribute Substitution - complex judgment substituted for a heuristic - circle/sphere analogy
