Ganglion Cell Detail Rods/Cones Contrast Rods Converge Sensitivity

Text
Eye Contrast:

1) Ganglion cell - Group together to form optic nerve; too many inputs result in a loss of detail
2) Bipolar cell - Input from rods/cones & contrast adjacent cells; synapse to ganglion cells
3) Amacrine/Horizontal cell - important for edge detection & increase contrast
4) Rods - more converge per ganglion cell, less sensitivity to detail
5) Cones - less converge per ganglion cell, greater sensitivity to detail
6) Rhodopsin - pigment in rods that allow black/white
7) Photopsin - pigment in cones that allow color
8) Melanopsin - pigments in rods/cones that allow black/white & color
