Low Opium Ses Amphetamine Reuptake Dopamine/Norepinephrine/Serotonin Depressants Benzodiazepines

Text
Depressants

Benzodiazepines - replaced Barbiturates for inducing anxiolytic behavior due to less ODs
Alcohol - low SES more common, but low SES enter recovery quicker

Stimulants

Amphetamine - increase release/decrease reuptake of dopamine/norepinephrine/serotonin
Cocaine - decreases reuptake of dopamine/norepinephrine/serotonin (different mechanism); vasoconstrictive
Ecstasy - Hallucinogen + Amphetamine

Opium

Opioids - Semisynthetic opium drugs; heroin, oxycodone
Opiates - natural opium plants; morphine, codein
Methadone - treatment for opioid addiction, long acting opioid, low chance of OD
Diacetylmorphine - Heroin

Hallucinogens

tetrahydrocannabinol - acts at the cannabinoid/glycine/opioid receptors & induces a high
lysergic acid diethylamide - interacts with various neurotransmitters, especially serotonin
