Pellucida The Zona The Corona Radiata Oocyte Sperm Layer Cells

Text The zones surrounding oocytes are called the zona pellucida and the corona radiata
The zona pellucida surrounds the oocyte, is a cellular, and is a mixture of glyocproteins that protect the oocyte and contain compounds necessary for sperm cell binding
The corona radiata is outside the zona pellucida and is a layer of cells that adhered to the oocyte during ovulation.  When this layer is breached by acrosomal enzymes from sperm cells meiosis 2 is triggered.
