Treponema Pallidum is a helical bacterium with humans as its only reservoir. It lacks LPS and has few outer proteins, making it non-antigenic. It can be transmitted to the fetus, causing spontaneous abortions, birth defects, or latent infections.

Treponema Pallidum es una bacteria helicoidal que solo tiene a los humanos como reservorio. Carece de LPS y tiene pocas proteínas externas, lo que la hace poco antigénica. Puede transmitirse al feto, causando abortos espontáneos, defectos de nacimiento o infecciones latentes.
