In a dicot stem, the cells arranged between the epidermis and pericycle constitute the cortex, consisting of hypodermis (collenchyma) and parenchyma; the innermost layer is the endodermis or starch sheath.
Nel fusto dicotiledone, il cortex è costituito da più strati tra epidermide e periciclo, con ipodermide di collenchima e parenchima corticale; lo strato più interno è l'endodermide o guaina amidacea.
Text | in a dicot stem the cells arranged in multiple layers between the epidermis and the pericycle constitute the cortex. the cortex consists of three sub zones . the outer hypodermis consists of a few layers of collenchyma cells just below the epidermis, which provide mechanical strength to the young stems. cortical layers below the hypodermis consists of rounded thin-walled parenchyma cells with conspicuous intercellular spaces. the innermost layer of the cortex is called the endodermis or the starch sheath |
