The statocyst is a balance sensory receptor present in some aquatic invertebrates, including MOLLUSCS, bivalves, CNIDARIANS, CTENOPHORANS, ECHINODERMS, cephalopods, and CRUSTACEANS. A similar structure is also found in XENOTURBELLA.
