Gibberellins are derived from acetate units of acetyl coenzyme A and are terpenes. They promote male flowering in chrysanthemum, increase axis length of grape stalks, fruit elongation in apples, glycolytic enzymes, early seed production in conifers, early seed germination in monocots, leaf expansion, and parthenocarpy in Thomson's grapes.
