Syngamy occurs internally within the organism's body in many terrestrial organisms like fungi, higher animals (reptiles, birds, mammals), and most plants (bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms, angiosperms), a process called internal fertilization.
In molti organismi terrestri, appartenenti a funghi, animali superiori come rettili, uccelli, mammiferi e nella maggior parte delle piante (briofite, pteridofite, gimnosperme e angiosperme), la singamia avviene all'interno del corpo dell'organismo, quindi il processo รจ chiamato fecondazione interna.
