They are called Urochordates because their larvae possess a notochord in the tail, which disappears during metamorphosis in the adult.
Warum heißen sie Urochordaten? Uro = Schwanz. Die Larve hat einen mittig-dorsalen Stützstab (Chorda dorsalis) im Schwanz. Schließlich verschwindet er während der Metamorphose, und der Erwachsene hat kein Skelett.
