Air Water Make Potometer Precautions 3.1.3(c Measures Rate

A potometer measures the rate of water uptake (transpiration) and requires precautions like sealed joints and underwater stem cutting for accurate results.

Um potômetro mede a taxa de absorção de água (transpiração) e requer cuidados como vedação de juntas e corte subaquático do caule para garantir resultados precisos.

Front Potometer and precautions 3.1.3(c)
Back Measures Rate of water uptake (transpiration)

- Make sure all joints sealed with waterproof jelly (so water only lost at stem/leaves)

- cut stem underwater to prevent introducing air bubbles

- make sure stem/ leaves not wet otherwise interferes with results

- seals have to be air tight, and air reservoir pushes air bubbles back to position
