Back | spearmens rank corrolation coefficient (considers relationship betwenn 2 sets of data) if 2 sets of data related, theyre corrolated, either no corrolation, +ve corrolation (as 1 set of data inc, other also inc) or -ve corrolation (as one set of ata inc, the other dec) - rs = 1 - (6 times sum of d^2 over n(n^2-1)) where rs is corrolation coefficient and d is diff in ranks, n is no. of pairs of data - first rank data from lowest to highest in seperate table, if 2 identical values when ranking, find average rank and use this for both values - if +1 its perfect +ve corr, -1 perfect negative corr and 0 is no corr, value will lie close to 1 of these - to work out statistical strength of corr, value looked up in corr coeff critical value tables, look at n value and find range of p, if <0.05 (data sig diff from chance alone) then conclude with context |
