E Energy Releases Protons Gradient Atp Transport Chain

Front e transport chain
Back - made up of series of e carriers, each with progressively lower energy levels, as excited e moves through chain, it releases energy (used to pump protons accross membrane, creating proton gradient which is maintained by membranes impermeability to protons)

- protons move across membrane down conc gradient through hydrophillic channel linked to ATP synthase (catalyses formation of ATP), it releases energy used to form ATP
