Metabolites Formed Microorganism Substances E.G Primary Secondary Desired

Metabolites can be the desired end-product of a bioprocess or substances produced by microorganisms (primary metabolites), with secondary metabolites being non-essential compounds produced during the stationary growth phase.

Metabolites can be the desired product of a bioprocess (like Quorn protein) or substances formed by microorganisms (primary metabolites like ethanol). Secondary metabolites, like antibiotics, are non-essential for growth and formed during the stationary phase, whereas primary metabolites are produced during active growth.

Front metabolites
Back - sometimes its microorganism thats desired from bioprocess (e.g Quorn protein)

- sometimes its the substances formed via microorganism e.g ethanol, ethanoic acids, AA etc.., these are primary metabolite

- organisms can form non-essential substances for growth (organism wont suffer in absence of them), e.g toxic chemicals of plants, these are secondary metabolites (mainly penicillin and other antibiotics)

- primary metabolites formed in period of acrive growth, secondary metabolites formed during stationary phase
