Response Types Tropisms  Phototropisms Unliateral Light Geotropism Gravity

Tropisms are directional growth responses of plants to stimuli like light (phototropism), gravity (geotropism), chemicals (chemotropism), and touch (thigmotropism). For instance, shoots grow towards light, and roots grow downwards into the soil for water and stability.

Tropisms are plant growth responses to stimuli. Phototropisms are responses to light, geotropisms to gravity, chemotropisms to chemicals, and thigmotropisms to touch. For example, shoots grow towards light (positive phototropism) for photosynthesis, while roots grow downwards towards water and stability (positive geotropism).

Back
  • phototropisms (response to unliateral light)
  • geotropism (response to gravity)
  • chemotropism (response to chemicals)
  • thigmotropism (response to touch)
  • plants respond to varying conditions e.g shoots of germinating seed grow towards light (for photo) and roots grows towards ground (stability/water/minerals)
