Quadrats are used for sampling plants and slow-moving animals. Point and frame quadrats measure density, frequency, and percentage cover, and are typically used after random sampling or systematically along transects.

Back | smapling plants; via quadrats, which can also sample slow moving animals - point quadrat (frame conatining horrizontal bar, at set intervals along bar, long pins pushed through and reach ground, each species touched recorded - frame quadrat (square frame divided into grid of equal sections, type/number of species within each section recorded - quadrats should be used after a random sampling technique, is studying distribution accross area of land that varies, quadrats placed systematically along transect - use all sampling techniques to measure species richness/evenness |
