Synoptic Neurone Transmission Ap Membrane Ca2+ Channels Open

Front synoptic transmission
Back
synoptic transmission
- AP reaches end of presynopyic membrane which is depolarised, which causes Ca2+ channels to open and Ca2+ to diffuse into synoptic knob and vesicles to fuse with presynoptic membrane and release contents (NT) via exocytisis into synoptic cleft
- NT diffuses towards postsynoptic neurone where it binds to NT receptor, which causes Na+ channels to open and Na+ enter postsynoptic neurone and causes AP which is propogated along neurone
