Temperature Responses Sun Bodies Warm Colours Rate Regulation

Front Temperature regulation in ectotherms
Back
  • Behavioral responses
    • Bask in sun or orientate bodies (or extend areas of body) so max SA exposed to sun
    • Press bodies against warm ground (inc body temperature via conduction), and warm via exothermic metabollic reactions
    • To cool down (prevent enzymes dentauring), warming processes reversed
  • Physiological responses
    • Dark colours absorb more radiation than light colours
    • Alter heart rate to change metbolic rate
