Water is rarely a limiting factor for photosynthesis because stomata close during dry spells to conserve water, limiting CO2 diffusion and stopping photosynthesis. For water potential to become low enough to limit photosynthesis, stomata would already be closed.

Back | stoma closes during dry spells (limit water loss), limiting CO2 diffusion, and so dec CO2 fixation, meaning light independent photo stops, for water potential to become low enough for water to be limiting factor, stoma already closed and photo stopped. |
