Water Loss Adaptions Low Stomata Lowers Xerophytes 3.1.3(e

Xerophytes are plants adapted to arid conditions, reducing water loss through fewer leaves, a thick waxy cuticle, and sunken stomata.

Gerofitlar qurgʻoqchil sharoitlarga moslashgan oʻsimliklardir va ular kamroq barglari, qalin mumli qutikula va chuqurlashgan changchilari bilan suv yoʻqotilishini kamaytiradi.

Front Xerophytes and its adaptions 3.1.3(e)
Back - adapted to dry habitats with low water availability e,g cacti and conifers

adaptions

- less stomata, so less water loss but also less gas exchange
- less leaves, lowers water loss
- thick waxy cuticle, which lowers water loss
- sunken stomata, located in pits with low air movement, allowing humid air, lowering WP gradient so less transpiration
