Weeds Main Narrow Leaved Broad Leaved Plants Commercial Hormones  Hormonal

Synthetic auxins are used as herbicides to selectively kill broad-leaved weeds (dicots) by disrupting their growth, while leaving narrow-leaved crops (monocots) unharmed. This method is economical and poses minimal risk to animals.

Weeds compete with crops for resources. Synthetic auxin-based herbicides are effective against broad-leaved weeds (dicots) because they disrupt their metabolism, causing unsustainable growth and death, while narrow-leaved crops (monocots) remain largely unaffected. These herbicides are cost-effective and have low toxicity to animals.

Back
  • weeds intefere with crops by competition for space, water, minerals and light
  • main foods are narrow-leaved monocot plants, main weeds broad-leaved dicots, so if synthetic dicot auxins applied as weedkiller, absorbed by broad-leaved plants and affect metabolism so that growth rate inc unsustainably till they die, while narrow-leaved plants unaffected
  • cheap and has low toxicity to animals
