Cell Hormones Pass Bind Receptors E.G Surface Difference

Front What is the difference between steroid and non-steriod hormones?
Back Steriod hormones are lipid soluble and can therefore pass through the phospholipid bilayer and bind to hormone receptors within the cell e.g. oestrogen whereas non-steroid hormones are hydrophillic so can't pass directly through the cell surface membrane. Instead, they bind to specific receptors on the cell surface membrane of the target cell e.g. adrenaline.
