| Notes | When adding -이 to the 르-ending stem to construct an adverb, passive or causative verb form the doubling principle 르 → ㄹㄹ is applied. -이 adverbs 다르다: 다르- + -이 → 달리 (differently) 빠르다: 빠르- + -이 → 빨리 (quickly) -이 causative and passive verb forms 구르다 (to roll over): 구르- + -이- + -다 → 굴리다 (to roll something) 마르다 (to get dry): 마르- + -이- + -다 → 말리다 (to dry) 부르다 (to call): 부르- + -이- + -다 → 불리다 (to be called) |
