고 싶다 Meaning Adjective Thoughts I 기 항상

Front 항상 다른 사람의 관심을 받고 싶어해요
Back He always seeks other people's attention
Notes When talking about the third person's wishes and hopes, the -고 싶어하다 version is used. Here the emotive adjective 싶다 is transformed into the verb by adding -아/어하다 in the same way 좋다 (good) transforms into 좋아하다 (to like).

Third-person expressions with the -고 싶- pattern require the use of -고 싶어하-.

The 싶다 adjective occurs in other grammatical structures where its meaning is different from 'to want'.  One of the other meanings is 'it seems/looks like'. For example, -(으)ㄹ까 싶다 has three usages: conjecture 'afraid it might', indirect report on personal thoughts 'I think', and thoughts about future plans 'I think I might'.
The -기 싫다 structure conveys the meaning of 'don't want to [do]...' which can be viewed as opposite to the meaning of -고 싶다. The -기 싫어하- form is used in third person sentences.
