Digestion Acids State Products Triglyceride Ph Fatty Happen

The digestion of a triglyceride yields glycerol and three fatty acids. The release of fatty acids, which are acidic, will lower the pH of the solution.

La digestión de un triglicérido produce glicerol y tres ácidos grasos. La liberación de ácidos grasos, que son ácidos, disminuirá el pH de la solución.

Front State the products of digestion of a triglyceride and state what would happen to the pH of the solution (and why).
Back Digestion of triglycerides
  • Products of digestion of a triglyceride are glycerol and 3 fatty acids
  • Because the fatty acids are now free from the ester bond, they will lower the pH as they are acids
