Time Oxygen Concentration Ph Controlled Explain Temperature Type

Temperature, pH, and nutrients must be controlled to optimize enzymatic reactions and microbial growth, while oxygen concentration is crucial for aerobic respiration. Inadequate control can denature enzymes, cause microbial death, or lead to the production of unwanted metabolites.

Front Explain why temperature, type and time of addition of nutrient, oxygen concentration and pH must be carefully controlled in an industrial fermenter.
Back Reasons for controlling factors:
  • Temp and pH affect enzyme controlled reactions and too far from optimum can result in denaturing & death of microorganisms
  • Nutrients must be added at right time to prevent food levels becoming limiting factor and culture going into stationary phase where it will produce potentially unwanted secondary metabolites
  • Oxygen concentration must be maintained for aerobic respiration
