Bile Alkaline Work Emulsifies Fat Function Neutralises Stomach

Bile is alkaline, neutralizing stomach acid to create ideal conditions for small intestine enzymes, and it emulsifies fats, increasing their surface area for lipase to act upon, speeding up digestion.

La bile è alcalina e neutralizza l'acido gastrico, creando un ambiente alcalino ideale per gli enzimi dell'intestino tenue. Emulsiona anche i grassi, aumentando la loro superficie per una digestione più rapida da parte della lipasi.

Front What is the function of bile?
Back
  • Bile is alkaline - it neutralises the stomach acid and creates the ideal alkaline conditions for enzymes in the small intestine to work in
  • It emulsifies fat (breaking them down), which gives them a bigger surface area for the enzyme lipase to work on, hence makes digestion faster.
Extra
emulsifies - breaks the fat into tiny droplets
