Enzymes Work Stomach Acid Small Intestine Properly Bile

Without bile, the stomach's acidic pH would prevent enzymes in the small intestine from working properly. Bile neutralizes this acid, creating the ideal alkaline conditions for these enzymes.

Senza bile, l'ambiente acido dello stomaco impedirebbe agli enzimi dell'intestino tenue di funzionare correttamente. La bile neutralizza questo acido, permettendo agli enzimi intestinali di operare efficacemente.

Front Why can't enzymes work properly in the stomach without bile?
Back
  • The hydrochloric acid the stomachh makes the pH too acidic for enzymes in the small intestine to work properly.
  • Bile neutralises the stomach acid and so creates the ideal alkaline conditions for enzymes in the small intestine to work in.
