Aortic Atrial Ventricular Contraction Isovolumetric Pressure Valve Systole

The cardiac cycle includes atrial systole, isovolumetric contraction, ventricular ejection, isovolumetric relaxation, atrial filling, and ventricular filling.

The cardiac cycle includes atrial contraction (atrial systole) when the atria are 70% full, isovolumetric contraction (ventricles contract with closed valves), ventricular ejection (blood into aorta), isovolumetric relaxation (ventricles relax below aortic pressure), atrial filling, and ventricular filling.

Original atrial contraction: when 70% full atrial systole
isovolumetric contraction: contracting ventricle pressure builds with both sets of valves closed
ventricular ejection: aortic valve opens, blood into aorta 
isovolumetric relaxation: ventricular pressure falls below aortic pressure, aortic valve closes below aortic pressure
