Corticosteroids are a group of drugs related to natural steroids like cortisone that can kill lymphocytes, especially developing thymocytes, inducing apoptotic cell death, and are useful anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agents.
Corticosteroïden zijn een groep van natuurlijke steroïden zoals cortison. Deze medicijnen kunnen lymfocyten doden, vooral thymocyten in ontwikkeling, en veroorzaken apoptotische celdood. Ze zijn nuttige anti-inflammatoire en immunosuppressieve middelen.
