Spacer Phenomenon Gene Segments Immunoglobulin T Cell Receptor Joined

The 12/23 rule is a phenomenon in immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor gene rearrangement where two gene segments can only be joined if their flanking recombination signal sequences have spacers of 12 and 23 base pairs, respectively.
