id - basic inborn urge to reproduce
-Wish Fulfillment - mental imagery that satisfies the id
-Primary process - id's response to frustration - obtain satisfaction now
-Pleasure principle - immediate gratification
ego - objective reality to repress pleasure principle/id
-Secondary process - Reality principle curtails id
-Reality principle - objective reality 
superego - perfectionist - pride/guilt for successes/failures
-ego-ideal - actions child was rewarded with
-conscious - collection of improper actions that child has been punished for

instinct - innate psychological representation of a biological need
preconscious - thoughts that are assessible but were not currently aware of
unconscious - repressed thoughts go here
