Cystic fibrosis is caused by a missing gene for a chloride ion transporter, often leading to fatal respiratory infections. Liposomes coated with the required gene are sprayed into the nostrils, but this method has not yet been successful due to limited gene transfer.

Patienten sterben oft an Atemwegsinfektionen. *Liposomen* werden mit dem benötigten Gen beschichtet und die Lösung wird in die Nasenlöcher des Patienten gesprüht.
