Drug Sample Testing Metabolites Breakdown Products Filtered Kidneys

Drugs are detected in urine because the kidneys filter them into the bladder, where traces can be found. The urine sample is split and tested first with an immunoassay, and if positive, confirmed with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.

A droga é detectada na urina porque os rins a filtram para a bexiga, onde podem ser encontrados vestígios. A amostra de urina é dividida e testada primeiro com um imunoensaio e, se positivo, confirmada com cromatografia gasosa/espectrometria de massa.

  • drugs or metabolites (breakdown products of drugs) filtered through kidneys and stored in bladder so can find drug traces in urine, urine sample split into 2, first sample tested by an immunoassay (uses monoclonal antibodies to bind to drug or metabolite), if positive, second sample run through gas chromatography/mass spectrometer to confirm presence of drug
