Neurone Cranial Blinking Reflex Process Cornea Irritated Foreign

In the blinking reflex, a stimulus on the cornea sends an impulse via the cranial nerve V to a relay neuron in the lower brainstem, then to cranial nerve VII, causing the eyelids to close.

Front blinking reflex process
Back cornea irritated by foreign body is stimulus, which sends impulse down sensory neurone (5th cranial nerve) to relay neurone which takes it through the lower brain stem then to motor (7th cranial nerve), resulting in eyelids closing
