Test Antibodies Coloured Pregnant Line Urine Monoclonal Window

Front pregnancy test
Back
  • wick soaked in first urine passed in morning (highest levels of hCG)
  • test contains mobile monoclonal antibodies (with small coloured beads attached) which only binds to hCG, if pregnant, hCG binds and forms hCG/antibody complex (complete with coloured beads)
  • urine carries on along test structure until it reaches a window where immobalised monoclonal antibodies arranged in line or pattern that only bind to hCG/antibody complex, so if pregnant, coloured line/pattern appears in first window
  • urine continues to second window where theres a line of immobalised monoclonal antibodies that bind only to mobile antibodies (whether bound to hCG or not) so coloured line forms to indicate test working, so if woman pregnant, 2 lines, and if not pregnant, 1 line
